The Hawker Beech King Air
The Hawker Beech King Air has become a favorite for Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (IRS)
missions.
ATI ESD holds the only Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the complete Night Vision Imaging System
(NVIS) Lighting Modification for the King Air. This is a modification of all of the cockpit and exterior lighting
that allows the aircraft be operated on Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) and in wartime airspace.
ATI ESD has built and delivered over 60 of these King Air NVIS kits for the Pro Line 21 equipped aircraft. The
FAA is currently in the final approval process of our STC for the NVIS modification of the earlier King Air EFIS
85 (Pro Line 2) aircraft as well.
Our King Air NVIS customers US military and several Other Government Agencies (OGAs) that have special
missions down range and need this special night capability. Our installation teams can travel to the
custyomer’s site if desired.
The ESD King Air NVIS modification is OEM level. Our approach is to go back to the component OEMs and to
provide NVIS versions whenever possible. We have been very successful with this approach. Where NVIS
versions of a component are not available, we modify it using proprietarymaterials and processes. The
result is a cockpit that looks so close to the original that you have to look closely to see the difference.
Our King Air NVIS modification makes all light sources NVIS compliant with Mil-Std-3009.
